Federal Budget 2018 – ACNC funding

We aim to deliver Just, Redemptive Outcomes®

Continued funding for the ACNC seems to be allowed for. (Source: Budget paper No. 4, Special Accounts Table p173).

The categories for allowed funding are:

  1.  ACNC litigation expenses

One million dollars has been allocated to the ACNC in 2018-19 as funding for litigation expenses. We understand that this is not test case funding and is only funding the expenses of the ACNC not those running a test case to seek to clarify the law. (See: Budget papers 2, p 179).

     2.  Social Impact Investing

Social Impact Investing — building outcome measurement capacity Expense

The Government will provide $6.7 million over four years from 2018-19 to build the capacity of the Australian Social Impact Investing sector by undertaking longitudinal studies and through the development of an impact framework aligning with the Australian Government principles for social impact investing. The framework will be published online, along with supporting resources for measuring the impact for social enterprises. This measure builds on the 2017-18 Budget measure titled Social Impact Investing Market — trials.

Social Impact Investing — trial Expense

The Government will provide $1.6 million over three years from 2018-19 to support the establishment of an expanded Social Impact Investing trial. This measure includes funding to evaluate the effectiveness of the trial. This measure builds on the 2017-18 Budget measure titled Social Impact Investing Market — trials.
